Create a repository

Quickstart

So you want to start very quickly with jLibrary. Well, these are the steps, but remember to read the documentation:

  • Download a sample repository. You can find one at http://jlibrary.sourceforge.net/samples/jlibrary-repository.jlib.
  • Start jLibrary application. You can specify the language with the -nl parameter. For example jLibrary -nl fr_FR.
  • Go to the File menu, and choose the Import repository option. This will show up the jLibrary import repository wizard.
  • In the first page, load the sample repository that you had downloaded previously and give it a name. Press Next to continue.
  • The second page is the user connection data one. To connect to a repository server, you must supply admin's username/password. If you have not changed them yet (and you should have changed it :-) ) then you can use admin/changeme. In the server combobox, you can leave Local server as the jLibrary server value. This will create a embedded repository within your jLibrary client. If you have a standalone jLibrary server, you can choose it using the profiles button at the right of the combobox.
  • Press the Connect to the server button. After this, the jLibrary client will try to connect to the specified jLibrary server. If the authentication process fails, you'll see an error message.
  • Press Finish. The repository data will be imported and now you can work with a sample jLibrary repository. Remember to check out the tutorials, and help pages to learn more about jLibrary.

I really hope you like our application.
